How it all started
“If you want someone to love you forever, buy a dog, feed it, and keep it around.” These words from Dick Dale have always resonated with me because I’ve lived them—twice. Growing up, I had my fair share of rescued pets—cats, birds, fish—you name it. But my bond with dogs was different, more profound. I’ve always had a weakness for them. There were only two dogs that ever truly stole my heart, and both left their paw prints on my soul in ways I’ll never forget.
The first was Sparky, a little mixed-breed that I rescued from the streets when I was just ten. I never cared what breed he was; all I knew was that he was my best friend. Sparky and I were inseparable, whether we were running through the woods or sharing a quiet nap together. But one day, everything changed. The gate to our yard had been left open, and Sparky ran across the street, chasing a stray cat. In an instant, he was gone, hit by a car. I stood there, shattered, as my world fell apart. It took years for the raw pain to dull, and even now, I find it hard to talk about without tearing up.
As time passed, life carried on. I was in my twenties when fate led me to a veterinary clinic at a shopping mall. Two little puppies were there, unwanted and about to be put down. They were Belgian Shepherds, with big brown eyes that begged for a second chance. I couldn’t walk away. Without a second thought, I took them both in, even though I was living in a tiny apartment at the time. A neighbor mentioned they’d grow up to be large dogs, and reluctantly, I found a good home for one of them with another neighbor who had been longing for a dog.
The one I kept was Canela. She was full of life and mischief, with enough energy to light up a city. I had to walk her at least three times a day just to keep her from bouncing off the walls. But she was more than just a pet; she was my partner in crime, my shadow. I remember once, she even followed me all the way to work (Back then I was working at a mall a few blocks from home), and I couldn’t help but laugh. We were truly inseparable, like two parts of the same soul.
But life has a way of testing even the strongest bonds. After two unforgettable years, I faced a situation I couldn’t change—I had to move, and the only place I could afford was far too small for a dog like Canela. My heart broke as I made the decision to give her up for adoption, but I found her a loving home with a friend who had a ranch in the countryside. I knew she’d have plenty of space to run and play, surrounded by nature, just as she deserved. But even though I knew it was the right decision, letting her go was like losing a piece of myself all over again.
After Sparky and Canela, I realized something—despite how much I loved them, I didn’t have anything tangible to remember them by. I was never one for taking pictures, always believing in living in the moment, and now I found myself with nothing but fading memories. I kept thinking, “What if there was a way to help people like me hold onto the love and joy their pets bring, long after they’re gone?”
That’s when the idea for our store came to life.
We create custom metal dog signs and beautifully crafted pet portraits that honor the unbreakable bond between you and your furry friends. We know what it feels like to experience the joy of a wagging tail and the heartache that follows when it’s time to say goodbye. Our mission is simple: to help dog parents celebrate their furry friends in a way that lasts forever. Whether it’s a personalized sign for your home or a lifelike portrait that captures your dog’s unique personality, we want you to have something that will remind you of the love, laughter, and loyalty you shared.
Because for me, dogs aren’t just pets—they’re family. And like family, they deserve to be remembered in the most special way possible.
Cheers!
